2021 SUMMER PROGRAMS

Location: In-Person Learning at Dag Hammarskjöld Middle School

(dates vary depending on program- check program descriptions below)

Elementary Summer Reading / Math Success Program:  July 6 - July 30

This summer reading/ mathematics program is taught by certified teachers and is designed to provide targeted skill support for students who can benefit from additional instruction. If a student has no transportation, they can opt for VIRTUAL. A limited number of elementary students will be selected by school personnel to participate and will be notified by school personnel prior to June 11th.

Middle School/High School Credit Recovery and Achievement Academy:  July 6 - July 30

Is your student struggling with one or more courses in middle school or high school?  Are you concerned about a possible failure or loss of credit?  Wallingford Public Schools is offering an effective credit recovery and academic support program during our summer school.  The Summer School Program includes review courses for students who have lost credit and are looking to regain credit. The courses are also available as non-credit supplements to the regular school program for students seeking additional prerequisite knowledge or enrichment learning.  It is taught by certified teachers.  It is recommended that you enroll your student in summer school to address learning gaps or recover credit lost due to academic failure or attendance concerns. If a student has no transportation, they can opt for VIRTUAL.

Summer Sizzler (Enrichment Camps):  Program dates vary per class; see catalog for details

These programs are designed with your child in mind to give them the opportunity to socialize, have fun, and learn new things and skills! These programs are provided at no charge, but parents must provide transportation. Virtual options are available.

Summer Language Camp: July 12 - July 30 

This program helps students develop expressive language and English vocabulary.  Through a series of fun and interactive activities, your student will gain confidence with English and develop friendships with other children learning the language. This program is run by certified TESOL teachers. If a student has no transportation, they can opt for VIRTUAL. A limited number of K-12 students will be invited to participate in this program by school personnel prior to June 11th.

Math Academy: July 6 - July 30 (For Rising 7th Graders who are entering Algebra 1 in 8th Grade)

Thiscourse is a combination of curricula that is compacted to prepare your child to enter Algebra in eighth grade and potentially earn 1.0 high school credit for successfully completing Algebra with a final grade of 70 or better.
