How can you help your child to understand a sense of number? Some tips to assist you and have fun in the process.
Lexile? CT Core Standards - how are the two connected and what does this mean for the level of challenge in a text for my child?
The CT Core Standards ask students to demonstrate COHERENCE across the grade levels. This means that skills and concepts keep building from one year to the next. Wondering how to reinforce this at home? Why not try this through the use of games? Board games are a great way to reinforce math skills and promote new learning; the key is to ask your child about what they know related to the math skill. Imagine a game of Battleship at home; what math skills would your child be using in that game?
The CT Core Standards, formerly known as the Common Core Standards, asks students to learn more about science and social studies through reading and using primary source documents. What's a primary source document? A good example is the Declaration of Independence. Others can be found by visiting the Library of Congress at: http://www.loc.gov/index.html
