Graduation Requirements
Minimum of 25 credits distributed as follows:
4 English
3 Mathematics
3 Social Studies
(1/2 Civics, 1 U.S.History)
3 Science
2 Physical Education
1 Fine / Vocational Art
1/2 Health
8 1/2 Electives
Students must also pass a district performance assessment in Language Arts and Math (and science starting with the graduating class of 2010) , and complete 30 hours of community service.
Description of College Courses:
Courses designated with an "A" are standard college preparatory courses, "H" are honors level courses, and "AP" Advanced Placement. Students who qualify based on educational performance may be eligible to participate in the UCONN Early College Experience program in English, Calculus, Physics, Spanish, French and Individual and Family Development.
ENGLISH:
Honors sections 1-4 are opened to students recommended as capable of concentrated study in all areas of English. AP English 4 is offered in cooperation with The University of Connecticut for college credit.
MATH:
Algebra I - may be taken in grade 8, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry,
Advanced Topics in Math, Precalculus (includes Analysis and Trigonometry) Prbability and Statistics, AP Statistics,
AP Calculus - offered in cooperation with The University of Connecticut for college credit
Computer Programming
SCIENCE:
Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, AP Biology and AP Chemistry. AP Physics is offered in cooperation with The University of Connecticut for college credit.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
World History, Civics, U.S. History, Sociology, Psycholpgy, AP U. S. History, AP Macro Economics, AP Micro Economics, Contemporary Issues, China and Japan, Africa, The Middle Ease, AP World History, AP European History, AP American Government, AP Comparative Politics, AP Psychology, Eastern Civilization and Western Civilization.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE:
Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, 5AP, French 1, 2, 3, 4, 5AP, Italian 1, 2, 3, 4, Latin 1, 2, 3, 4. AP Spanish 5 and French 5 are offered with the University of Connecticut for college credit.
ELECTIVES:
Electives offered in Art, Business, English, Consumer and Family Sciences, Music, Technology, and Vocational Agriculture. Students may receive credit through a Tech Prep Program in cooperation with Gateway and Middlesex Community Technical Colleges. Students may also take courses through the Saturday Seminar Program and Southern Connecticut Foreign Language Program in conjunction with Yale University.

Class Rank
Class rank is based on the quality point average of six semesters. Quality points are granted according to the level of the course and the mark earned in it except for pass/fail courses and P.E. Quality point averages are determined by dividing the quality points earned by total credit value of the quality point courses taken.
