Scholarships with March Deadlines
Please be aware that in order to meet the needs of all our students, all requests for transcripts and letters of recommendation must be submitted to the School Counseling office at least 10 business days prior to the scholarship deadline.
Information for the following scholarships can be obtained in the School Counseling Scholarship File.
A scholarship program has been established for children, grandchildren, and legal wards of people who are living or have lived with Parkinson Disease. There will be (3) $500 scholarships awarded in the state. Candidates must be a high school senior residing in Connecticut, who will be attending a four-year, two-year or technical college. The awards will be based upon academic achievement, school and community activities and an essay about how their relationship with a relative with Parkinson Disease affected their life.

The CT State Bowling Association is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior, graduating in June, whose mother, father, grandmother or grandfather is a sanctioned member of the CT State Bowling Association. The senior, either male or female, must be planning to continue his/her education in the summer or fall.

Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation is offering scholarships to students who live within the marketing area. The application procedures and criteria for each scholarship are described online at www.pricechopper.com. A student is eligible to apply to only one scholarship. The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences/ CT Affiliate will award two $1,000.00 Scholarships to graduating CT High School seniors. Requirements include the student be enrolled in and attending a two or four year school of higher education, majoring in a FCS related field of study or majoring specifically in Family and Consumer Sciences education. Applications are available in the School Counseling Office.

The Cuno Foundation has announced that its Frank Davella Educational Fund will award approximately $50,000 in renewable scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year. To be eligible, a student must be a high school senior residing in Meriden or vicinity that will be entering a four-year college program. Awards will be based on financial need, prior academic success, SAT scores, two letters of recommendations from teachers, one of which may be from your School Counselor and a personal interview.

The New Haven County Tax Collectors’ Association is awarding two scholarships in the amount of $250.00 each. In order to qualify for consideration, an applicant must be a resident of New Haven County, Connecticut; A senior in High School in good standing and current in his or her tax obligations, if any, to the town or city of residence. Applicants must write a one page essay on the topic of “How State and Local Taxes can affect my Education”. The Essay must be submitted along with the application form.

The law office of Carter Mario Injury Lawyers is committed to supporting higher education opportunities, through the “Carter Cares” initiate. Our “Arrive Alive” scholarship provides financial assistance to help students pursue their educational goals. This year the scholarship focuses on the dangers of both drunk and distracted driving (defined as when motorists use a cell phone to call, or text while behind the wheel). Our seventh annual “Arrive Alive” scholarship program for 2012 is offering (10) $1,000 scholarships to Connecticut seniors who will be attending a four-year college or university in the fall of 2012.

Each year the State Chapter, Alpha Kappa Gamma State awards 3 cash grants to high school seniors (male or female) who are planning to enter teacher education programs.

The Elizabeth Sonier Grant awards $750.00 to a senior planning to pursue a degree in Music Education.
The Hannah Griswold Grant awards $750.00 to a minority senior planning to major in Education.

Carrier Scholarship: Applicants must have Record-Journal carriers for at least two full years. Length and quality of service is also considered.
Journalism Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to students who reside in the newspaper’s circulation area of Wallingford, Meriden, Southington, or Cheshire. A qualified applicant will have played an active role in some aspect of journalism during his/her high school years, and will be contemplating a career in some aspect of journalism or some related field including graphic arts, advertising, and photography.

Offered to graduating Connecticut high school students entering college-level programs in architecture, engineering, construction management, surveying, planning or other courses of study leading to associate, baccalaureate, or masters degrees in the construction field. The Auxiliary of the Hospital of Saint Raphael is offering four scholarships of $1,000 each to area students planning to pursue a career in a health-related profession. Scholarship eligibility will be determined by financial need, scholastic achievement and community involvement. Northrop Grumman will award a $10,000 scholarship to a graduating senior enrolled in a New Haven County high school and plan to pursue a career in engineering. The program is very competitive in that recipients of the scholarship have been high achiever who have excelled academically, are civic minded and who have faced many physical and emotional challenges during their lives.

Awards given in memory of Charles B. Yale and Edwin H. Brown to deserving graduates of Lyman Hall High School who earnestly desire to secure a college education. The recipients of these awards are named by the Wallingford Board of Education as determined by the graduates’ financial need, achievement, and service to the school. Finalist will be scheduled for an interview by the Wallingford Board of Education in April.

This fund will offer a one-time scholarship in the amount of $4,000 to five graduates of the Class of 2012 who plan to further their education by attending a College or University, technical school or vocational school. Criteria for eligibility include character, scholarship, and financial need.

This scholarship is intended to honor a student’s achievements in academics as well as participation for three years on the Lyman Hall Boys Soccer Team.
Applications are to be returned to Mrs. Sally Grego at Lyman Hall H.S. by March 30, 2012.
The WEA is offering scholarships to graduating seniors at Lyman Hall and Sheehan. Academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, community service and financial need will be considered.
Applicants are to use the Common High School School Application including page 5 and return your completed application to the School Counseling Department by March 31, 2012.
Open to students in the Wallingford school system who wishes to further their education by attending a 2 or 4 year college. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior with academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, community service and financial need.
