Wallingford Public Schools SRBI Mission Statement

The mission of SRBI is to use current best practices with fidelty through differentiated instruction, guided by frequent progress monitoring, so every student can succeed both academically and behaviorally.

SRBI Team

The SRBI Team is a diverse group of educators that meet regularly to assist colleagues that are seeking positive supports for individual students. The team will consist of 6-8 teachers that are representative of the building's staff. The team will include an administrator, classroom teacher, interventionist, mental health professional and a PPS staff member.

The SRBI Team primarily supports teachers by providing additional strategies and coaching in Tier I practices in order for students to be successful. The SRBI Team also determines when Tier 2 and 3 interventions are necessary and designs targeted interventions with measurable outcomes.

Parent/Guardian Role in SRBI

Parents and Guardians are an integral part of student success and have valuable insights to share with the school based SRBI Team. Parents/guardians will be informed when an initial SRBI form has been submitted in addition to being provided the action plan that is put into place and will be regularly updated onthe progress made once the plan is being implemented.

Universal Screening

A universal screen is a "common" assesment tool that is administered to all students three times per year in order to identify those who are achieving below grade level expectations. The state of Connecticut requires that districts select a universal screening tool from an approved menu.

Wallingford Public Schools has select STAR Renaissance as the K-2 Reading assessment tool, i-Ready for K-8 mathematics and reading, and HMH Growth Measure for High School Mathematics and Reading.
