Message from Superintendent Bellizzi - Modified 2024 - 2025 Budget Proposal

Dear Families of the Wallingford Public Schools Community,

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, during a Special Operations Committee meeting, the WPS Central Office team modified the Sustained Budget Services to account for the following items;

  • Decrease in the Excess Cost Reimbursement 

    • Increased Cost to sustained budget  = $195,916

  • Increase in public and private tuition for students who attend schools outside of the district.

    • Increased Cost to sustained budget = $251,507

  • Transfer of the cost of Crossing Guards to the education budget

    • Increased Cost to Sustained Budget = $188,000

The total increase is $635,423. The revised sustained services budget for 2024-2025 was calculated to be $120,167,400, representing an increase of 5.863%. 

To help guide its work, the Board of Education is seeking your input. All budget proposal documents are included on our website, and we are providing a Revised Budget Fact Sheet - Spanish Version outlining this budget proposal's primary components.  

If you have questions or suggestions regarding the 2024-2025 budget, please complete this Budget Feedback Survey by 9 a.m. on January 29, 2024.  

We also invite you to follow the budgetary process as it moves forward.  The Board of Education will hold in-person workshop sessions in the Board of Education Conference Room, 100 South Turnpike Road, Wallingford, on the following dates:

  • Monday, January 29, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. (if needed)

  • Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. (if needed)
