Wallingford Public Schools - Budget Update - March 4, 2026

March 4, 2026

Dear Wallingford Staff and Families,

On February 23, 2026, the Board of Education approved a $4,048,002 (3.326%) increase to the sustained services budget and a $601,632 (0.494%) strategic request, resulting in a total proposed budget of $126,371,736 (3.820%) for the 2026–2027 school year.

The budget approved by the Board initially included an estimated 10% increase in insurance allocation rates. After meeting with the Town and Board of Education’s insurance consultants to review the most current information, we have confirmed that the actual increase will be 6.5%.  This updated rate positively impacts the sustained services budget and reduces the overall projected expenditure in this area.

The chart below reflects the revised proposed 2026–2027 budget, incorporating the updated 6.5% insurance rate adjustment.
