Opening of School Information August 2026

Dear Wallingford Parents/Guardians:

I hope this message finds you well and that you have enjoyed a restful and joyful summer. As we begin a new school year, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome back to all our students, parents, and families.  

Please take a few moments to review the following updates related to the start of the 2026-2027 school year:

Parent Portal Opens for School Form Completion  

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the PowerSchool parent portal will open with forms available; other features will not yet be accessible.  

Schedules and Teacher Placement 

The parent portal for schedules and teacher placement will open for all families on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Please note: your back-to-school forms must be complete before the schedule will appear.

ParentSquare is our school-to-home communication tool.  For the best experience, we recommend you download the mobile app, as it is the easiest way to receive all Posts, Events, sign-up requests, Photos, and Files.

Parent Visitation

The District Meet-and-Greet/Teacher Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 8:15 - 9:45 am. This is an opportunity for families to meet their child’s teacher. Families can drop into the school at any point during the visitation window, and no formal presentations will take place.

Message from Food Services Department:  

Beginning August 27, 2026, meal prices across the district will be adjusted as follows: 

Elementary:

• Breakfast: $2.10 
• Lunch: $3.60 

Middle School:

• Breakfast: $2.20
• Lunch: $3.70 

High School: 

• Breakfast: $2.25
• Lunch: $3.80

Free School Breakfast for All 2026-2027

School breakfast will be available to all enrolled K–12 students at NO COST every school day for the upcoming school year. Every student in our district can receive a healthy, complete breakfast at school each day for $0. No sign-up or income verification is required for participation. This funding applies to 1 breakfast per school day, and any additional breakfasts purchased beyond that will be charged to the student's account at the full meal price shown in the chart above. 

Free and Reduced Price Breakfast and Lunch 

Families are encouraged to review the income eligibility guidelines for the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program for the 2026–2027 school year. Students who qualify for either free or reduced-price meals will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost or the reduced rate.

Free and Reduced Price Meal Application 

We invite our community to submit a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application once they are released in the near future. These forms for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic cycle can be accessed via the district's online portal or at the primary office of any school building. Even if eligibility is uncertain, we strongly recommend applying; this year, students who meet these criteria will receive their school meals at no cost. Furthermore, a completed application can often serve as a gateway to additional educational resources and family benefits. We look forward to receiving your documentation as soon as the enrollment window opens.
