Data Privacy

The Wallingford School District is committed to protecting the privacy of its students, faculty and staff. The district complies with State and Federal legislative regulations such as the new Act Concerning Student Data Privacy (PA:16-189) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In response to the new law, CT PA 189 requires Boards of Education to enter into written contracts with consultants and operators (collectibly, "contractors") prior to providing contractors with, or allowing them access to student information, student records or student generated content. This law further requires boards to provide written notice of execution of such a contract and post such notice on the board’s website, along with the executed contract.

The district encourages vendors to sign the CT Privacy Pledge - http://www.ct.gov/ctedtech/lib/ctedtech/PA_16-189_CT_Student_Data_Privacy_Pledge.pdf.  More information can be found on the State of CT Website at: http://connecticut.learnplatform.com/faqs/

The new law went into effect July 1, 2018. Wallingford is in the process of working with all software vendors whose products are used by the district, that fall under the privacy legislation to obtain contract modifications to insure the suppliers are compliant with the law.  This page will be updated as contracts renew or new agreements are entered into.
