Chromebook Help & Information

Students are provided a new chromebook in grades 3 and 7 for instructional use. Students that take their Chromebooks home are responsible for charging the Chromebook and ensuring that it is ready for use in school learning each day.Chromebooks that are assigned to go home come with a school issued case. The purpose of the case is to protect the Chromebook, especially while the Chromebook is being transported.The Chromebook must be transported in the protective case at all times. No stickers or any other items should be attached to the Chromebook itself.

Chromebook Repairs

Chromebook Repairs:

Middle and High School
Students can bring their Chromebooks with teacher permission to their school library media center for repairs during the school year. The student will be given a Chromebook loaner while their Chromebook is repaired by the IT department. The loaner must be returned to the library once their Chromebook is repaired.

Elementary Schools
Students can advise their teacher if their Chromebook needs repair and the teacher will coordinate getting the Chromebook to IT for repair with the school and a loaner Chromebook will be given to the student.

Protection Plan

Chromebook Protection Plan:

Like textbooks, team uniforms and other school property issued to your child, there is a responsibility to take appropriate care of these valuable resources. Wallingford Public Schools offers parents/guardians the option to purchase a Chromebook Protection Plan yearly for devices assigned to students in grades 6-12.
One year Chromebook Protection cost (school year 2023-2024): $30.00

PROTECTION PLAN COVERAGES

What is Covered - 2 claims per year
Accidental damage - including but not limited to broken screen, liquid spillage, dropped.
Unavoidable Theft - police report must be submitted within 72 hours of theft.

What is Not Covered
Lost Chromebooks are not covered by this policy. Chromebook Device at an approximate cost of $250 should the Chromebook/Mobile Device be lost in any way.
Excessive scratches/wear to Chromebooks exterior.
Intentional marking, defacing, removing name label or WPS ID sticker and/or abusing the Chromebook.
Damage caused by tampering with hardware components or operating system (i.e. jailbreaking) to alter district configurations.
Personally applied stickers.

POLICY VOID
The policy will become void for the term if:
More than two (2) claims are made during the policy term. If the school makes a determination that the damage to the Chromebook was intentional or caused by abuse.

Chromebook Troubleshooting

To Reset your Chromebook: please do a Hard Restart by pressing the refresh and power keys simultaneously.

To Powerwash your Chromebook: At the Sign-In screen (Either by signing out or restarting your device) press CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + R
Once your Chromebook has finished Powerwashing you will need to reconnect to the school Wi-Fi network.
Reset this chromebook - Select Powerwash
Confirm Powerwash - Select Continue
Device will go black and say “Powerwash in Progress”
Select Get started
Connect to network
Choose ???
Click Accept and Continue
Enterprise Enrollment will occur
Click Done
You can now sign in using your Google credentials, it will automatically switch to Chromebook or Secure wifi
