Picture 1: Moses Y. Beach
Moses Y. Beach was born in Wallingford in 1800. When he was an adult, he moved to Massachusetts to be a cabinet maker and inventor. Later, he moved to New York. While there he became the owner and editor of the New York Sun, a newspaper. Moses Y. Beach retired and moved back to Wallingford in 1857. He gave the land where Moses Y. Beach School is located. The Wachovia Bank building in the center of town was modeled after Moses Y. Beach's mansion that used to stand in its location. He contributed greatly to the town of Wallingford.
Moses Y. Beach School is located at the corner of Christian Street and North Main Street. It is located among the historic homes near the center of town.

Beach School is todayThe school has 23 large classrooms, an auditorium, stage, and a separate cafeteria which opens to the playground and the playscape. Children can go directly outside after lunch and enjoy every minute of their recess.
The school is supported by a dedicated and hard working PTO which sponsors meaningful cultural arts and family events. Teacher and parent volunteers make Moses Y. Beach a great place to learn and grow.
